How RESCO Selects Its Future Students

The selection of RESCO applicants is a four-step process, designed to ensure transparency, academic excellence, and diversity.

A single, unified ranking list must be used for all applicants, regardless of nationality or funding category, as required by the Erasmus+ Programme Guide.

All RESCO students, scholarship-funded or self-funded, must complete at least 2 × 30 ECTS in two different countries outside their country of residence, in accordance with the mandatory Erasmus Mundus mobility rule

Step 1 – Eligibility Check

The members of consortium verify that each application is complete, authentic, and meets the programme requirements.

Applicants may receive guidance to complete their application, including support from their home university, Campus France, or other institutional offices.

Step 2 – Application Review

The RESCO Selection Committee reviews all eligible applications. Each member evaluates candidates individually, then compares and consolidates scores across the consortium.

Selection criteria:

  • Academic excellence and quality of application: 50%
  • Coherence of study and career project: 30%
  • English proficiency: 20%

Committee members may discuss the strengths and weaknesses of applications to ensure a fair evaluation.

Step 3 – Ranking and Grant Allocation

The committee produces a ranked list of the top 50 candidates, ensuring:

  • Gender balance
  • Geographical diversity
  • Inclusion of students with fewer opportunities

From this list:

  • 25 students are selected for admission
  • 25 students are placed on the reserve list

All RESCO students, scholarship-funded or self-funded, must complete at least 2 × 30 ECTS in two different countries outside their country of residence, in accordance with the mandatory Erasmus Mundus mobility rule

Step 4 – Notification of Results

The programme coordinator notifies all applicants of the outcomes:

  • Selected students: formal letter of acceptance
  • Reserve list students: notified if a spot becomes available
  • Rejected applicants: informed by email with reasons

Accepted students have approximately three months to arrange travel and accommodation for the start of the semester in Budapest in early September.
