4TH semester: internship worlwide

4 to 6 month internship in Europe or in the world and a Master’s thesis

Internship worldwide (15 ECTS)

The internship lasts 4 to 6 months, typically from February/March to July/August. It can be completed in:

  • Industry
  • Government services
  • NGOs
  • Research institutions (academic or company R&D) in Europe or anywhere in the world.

Each student is assigned a supervisor from the host company or institution, responsible for guiding their work and evaluating their performance.
An academic coordinator also oversees the process.

Beyond technical expertise, students are expected to develop essential non-technical skills:

  • Teamwork
  • Project management
  • Communication & presentation
  • Documentation and reporting
  • Self-training
  • Understanding societal & economic issues

Students should demonstrate reliability, initiative, problem-solving abilities, and strong engagement within the host organization.

At the end of the internship, the supervisor completes an evaluation form assessing the student on all key criteria.
This assessment contributes to the final grade, in agreement with the academic coordinator.

Master Thesis (15 ECTS)

The Master Thesis may be directly linked to the internship or focus on another topic agreed upon with the academic supervisor. Each student must produce an original piece of work and defend it publicly before an examination board.

  • Develop an individual and original research project
  • Identify social, legal, environmental, economic, security, and technological constraints
  • Integrate ethical or societal reflections when relevant
  • Communicate accurately and clearly, both in writing and orally, to specialised and non-specialised audiences
  • Apply acquired knowledge, methodologies, and skills to solve a problem related to Renewable Energies and Sustainable Construction
  • 20-minute presentation followed by 10 minutes of questions
  • All documents and presentations must be in English
  • The defense takes place at the university where the student’s academic supervisor is based
  • A hybrid format (online + on-site) is preferred
  • Unified jury composed of representatives from all partner universities and associated partners
  • Common review procedure and shared evaluation criteria across the consortium
  • Ensures a harmonised, high-quality assessment aligned with joint academic standards
